6 steps to becoming a powerful public speaker
Public speaking is to match that with the death in terms of things that are terribly afraid to do so. If fear of being watched closely by others, or the insecurity and sense of self-conscious during the slide presentation, these six tips will help you give a polished professional speech that you (and audiences) can be proud of!
1. Know your audience. This is the best piece of advice for the delivery of a presentation that really hits home. What interests? His background? Why come to know or present? What are your ideas to share with them? He approaches his speech as more of a "me-a debate that" instead of issuing any rule make it more manageable (and less stressful) and easier for you.
2. What do you want your audience to do as a result of his intervention? What is really the heart of your presentation? By focusing on the result, "end" instead of slogging through the top, you can create a powerful device that drives home your message instead of irregular plan and loss of interest of his audience (or misses the point to all !)
3. Share a story. In environments of public speaking, this is called a "hook" – something that attracts public attention and makes them sit and listen. Begin to ask questions or share an experience you had. People like to be active rather than passive listeners. Giving them something that can identify, you will find that these people are, in essence – like you! What makes a presentation much easier. Just make sure that the story has a beginning, a point and an end. There is nothing bad as telling a story to a captive audience, and then forget why he did that!
4. If you are selling a product, focus on performance rather than features. People feel much more that a product can do for them and how. Reduce the characteristics of the product to reach the base of how to solve a problem. If you need help finding the difference between a function and a benefit, ask yourself, "So?" For example, if you sell a vacuum cleaner that has a hypoallergenic filter, put yourself in the shoes of the customer and ask "so what? "The answer might be something like" pink dust, mold and pet dander. Once again, "So?" Answer: "You'll feel relief of nasal congestion and sneezing more itchy, eyes water." Now that is an advantage!
5. Do not lean too heavily on a support to make their message clear. Powerpoint presentations are great for making specific points, but can be overwhelming – or even boring. Instead, give your audience something to do, giving them fill-in-the-blank flip charts or "team building activities. These help to strengthen and emphasize its message so that a computer presentation simply can not.
6. Above all, make sure your speech ends in a way that reaffirms the principle. Too often, speakers will be overwhelmed by the details and leave the audience asking, "What was the point of all this?" People naturally Digest information in "blocks" so that focus on The Big Picture instead of all the pieces. If the data are so important, if not that, after a days brochure discusses the public can bring and read more in their spare time.
If you follow these six tips in mind, not only have an easier time overcoming the fear of public speaking, but you'll have a grateful audience, which in turn become more receptive and willing to try your product or service. A por ellos!
